Catalog Swap

I have mentioned before that my upline group tries to do a swap when new catalogs and promotions come out so that we can have samples of products we might not have bought ourselves.  This swap was anything from the new catalog.  I just have to share the pictures since they are ALL so wonderful!

*Sorry for the picture quality.  Taken from my phone that needed to be wiped clean.*

Fabric Flower

I have been DYING to try out a project with our Stampin' Up! fabric but just never found the time.  I bought the Comfort Cafe Designer Fabric awhile back because I love the color combinations in this fabric.

Anytime you order our fabric you get 3 extra-wide fat quarters (27" x 18") in 3 coordinated designs that can be cut with select Big Shot dies.

Designer Fabric details:
■ 100% cotton
■ Patterns coordinate with select Designer Series Paper designs

The Comfort Cafe fabric coordinates with the Comfort Cafe suite. The colors include Cajun Craze, Midnight Muse, Pool Party, Soft Suede, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White.  This allows you to match the fabric with the colors to any of your projects with ease.

I do not sew even though I have thoughts of wanting to so I found a project that I could use a hot glue gun to try the fabric out.  I have seen fabric flowers all over the web that I got inspiration from.  Here's what my flowers turned out to look like.

*Sorry for the poor picture quality.  Taken from my phone and think camera needed to be wiped clean.*

Cute way to gift instead of wrapping
Supplies needed to make this project:

Fabric: Comfort Cafe

Accessories: Brights Designer Buttons
                     Early Espresso Bakers Twine

         Tools: Craft and Paper Scissors
                     Big Shot
                     Flower Folds Bigz XL Die
                     Hot Glue Gun (store bought)
Clips for the back bought at store

Steps to make this project:
  1. Using craft and paper scissors, cut your fabric to the length of the flower folds bigz XL die.
  2. Run the die through the Big Shot.
  3. Assemble flowers with hot glue gun. I placed a small strip of glue on the back of each layer going the opposite way from the previous layer.
  4. Thread bakers twine through button.
  5. Glue button to flower.
  6. Add backing if you want or add to project using adhesive.
How cute is that flower attached to the picture keeper box instead of using wrapping paper.  The best part is that someone can take it off and reuse it on something else!!!  Gotta love that!

There are so many cute things you can use our fabric for and I can't wait to try out more.

Masculine Birthday Card

If you read my post yesterday you know that I created 2 birthday cards for a local meetup group I'm a part of who have allowed me to host a card making event on Friday.  Yesterday I showed you a feminine butterfly card and here is the masculine birthday card I created.

I always have a hard time with masculine cards.  You can't add all the glitter, bling and extras like you can on a card for a woman.  You have to keep it simple but was exactly what I wanted anyways for the meetup event.

I knew that I wanted to use this birthday stamp from Delightful Dozens.

I wanted to use this stamp as Subway art to showcase the different fonts and sayings in coordinating colors.  Subway art is very trendy right now.

Since I didn't have much inspiration I went to www.splitcoaststampers.com where you can search for examples by the stamp set name.  I saw this sample and knew it would be perfect for this card.  I changed the colors to match supplies I had and just love how it turned out.  I think I remember saying that yesterday too.  Maybe it's the simpleness to the last 2 cards that make me like them.  Usually I'm stressing about needing to add more, but knowing I wanted these cards simple makes me appreciate how a simple card can still look nice.

*I will post the supplies needed to make this card in another post.*

New Butterfly Card

One of my local meetup groups that I'm a member of has allowed me to put a card making event on the calendar.  I'm very excited of the possibility this might bring to my business!  My first event is this Friday and I went with a birthday theme because EVERYONE needs birthday cards.  We are making one feminine and one masculine card.  Here is the feminine card.

I'm keeping it very simple as I'm not sure how crafty anyone will be.  I want this to be a monthly event so I don't want to scare everyone away after the first event!  I was inspired by another demonstrator Deena Boos.  I adapted her card slightly with the supplies I had on hand and changed the color to Primrose Petals to showcase this new in-color.  Here's a side view to see how it's popped up and the primrose petal butterfly underneath the stamped butterfly makes it really stand out.

I just love this card and could really change the color and saying for many things.  What do you think?  I will let you know how the first meetup event goes next week.  Stop back tomorrow to see the masculine card.

*I will post the supplies needed to make this card in a future post.*

Red, White and Blue Cookies

As soon as I saw that the new Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamp Set includes a star, my mind was already thinking of making red, white and blue cookies.  Back in May, I wrote about a jello cookie recipe I found on Pinterest that worked with these cookie stamps and tasted great.  You can read about my grape cookies and get the recipe HERE.

Since we were going to a picnic where a lot of people and kids were going to be there, I had the perfect reason to make all these cookies!  I knew I was going to use the jello recipe to make my red and blue cookies.  I used strawberry for red and blueberry for the blue cookies.  The white cookies are the sugar cookie recipe that comes with your cookie stamps.  I just love how they came out and they definitely taste like strawberry and blueberry.  Love having these stamps and this recipe in my book!

Stampin' Up! now offers three sets of cookie stamps that you can order for $16.95 each.
1. Holidays include: snowflake, pumpkin face (not shown), and heart
Holidays Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

2. Occasions include: shamrock, flower, and bunny
Occasions Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

3. Special Events include: star, present, and flower
Special Events Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

You are going to love these stamps.  They are so easy to use and makes a great project for kids to help in the kitchen.  I had my 2-1/2 year old help press the stamp onto the cookies and he was so excited to see the star when we lifted them!  They also make great gifts that ship in a box ready to be wrapped and given to someone who loves to bake.  Interested in these sets, head to my store at www.brittnysmith.stampinup.net.
