Masculine Birthday Card

This card was inspired again by a card I saw on Pinterest.  You can see the original at Laura's Cards and More.  I needed a card I could make for my Grandfather's 95th birthday.  It's very hard to find masculine style cards and knew this would be perfect.

Supplies needed to make this card:

Card Stock: Crumb Cake base 5-1/2" x 4-1/4"
                    Very Vanilla 5-1/4" x 4"
                    Comfort Cafe DSP strips

Stamp Set: Bring on the Cake
Bring on the Cake - Clear-Mount Stamp - Clear-Mount Stamp Set - by Stampin' Up!
Ink: Cherry Cobbler

Accessories: Snail Adhesive

This card is so simple that you only need paper, ink and a stamp to create it!  This would be great for those just starting out making your own cards.

Masculine Birthday Card

If you read my post yesterday you know that I created 2 birthday cards for a local meetup group I'm a part of who have allowed me to host a card making event on Friday.  Yesterday I showed you a feminine butterfly card and here is the masculine birthday card I created.

I always have a hard time with masculine cards.  You can't add all the glitter, bling and extras like you can on a card for a woman.  You have to keep it simple but was exactly what I wanted anyways for the meetup event.

I knew that I wanted to use this birthday stamp from Delightful Dozens.

I wanted to use this stamp as Subway art to showcase the different fonts and sayings in coordinating colors.  Subway art is very trendy right now.

Since I didn't have much inspiration I went to www.splitcoaststampers.com where you can search for examples by the stamp set name.  I saw this sample and knew it would be perfect for this card.  I changed the colors to match supplies I had and just love how it turned out.  I think I remember saying that yesterday too.  Maybe it's the simpleness to the last 2 cards that make me like them.  Usually I'm stressing about needing to add more, but knowing I wanted these cards simple makes me appreciate how a simple card can still look nice.

*I will post the supplies needed to make this card in another post.*

Happy Birthday!

I just wanted to dedicate this blog post to my husband (even though he never reads this blog!)  He is turning 28 today and I love it!  That just means he's getting one year closer to 30 when I can tease him like he's been teasing me for the last couple of months.  I love him to death and can't wait to spoil him tonight after work.  Here's the card I made for him that I slipped into his biology book so hopefully he sees it when he's in class to cheer him up just a little!  It's hard making cards for men sometimes when all you want to do is bling it out and make it fabulous like us girls!

Not sure why I can't flip this the right way through blogger because it's the right way on my computer.

Close up of the card

This card used color combo Night of Navy, Old Olive and Cajun Craze.  My husband is a HUGE Notre Dame fan so I tried to incorporate the green since that is his favorite color.  I used Builder Wheel Birthday and Candle Crazy using Old Olive ink pad.  The number stamp is from the Bring on the Cake stamp set using Old Olive ink pad.  I colored in the numbers 2 and 8 using my Cajun Craze Stampin' Write Marker.  I stamped the Birthday from the Bring on the Cake stamp set using my Craft White Ink pad.
