Holiday Catalog Swap

I participated in a demonstrator swap with stamp sets from the 2012 Holiday Catalog.  These are the swaps and they are all GEORGEOUS!!  I love that we only had to make 6 cards so we were able to take our swap cards up a notch than normal with more people.  If you remember from here, my swap card was the Gingerbread man and women card.  Enjoy the beautiful creations from my fellow demonstrators who all rock!!

Mr and Mrs

My husband's sister was getting remarried this weekend and I needed a cute card.  I absolutely love the owl punch and had a perfect reason to use it.  I found the inspiration for these bride and groom owls at Lynda's Quiet Time.  I just LOVE how this card came out and those owls are so darn cute!!

Her favorite color is pink so that's why I went with this color scheme.  You could match the colors with the wedding theme if you wanted.  Here's a close up of the owls.

Just a few notes about how to put this card together.  I stamped, embossed and cut the Mr. and Mrs. sentiment so I could loop the ribbon around the & and have it stand out.  I freehand cut the grooms hat and bow tie.  I punched feet in whisper white to make her look like she's wearing shoes.  I used the blender pen and melon mambo ink to make her eyes look like she has shadow on.  The melon mambo heart comes from the owl punch as well.

Supplies needed to make this card:

Card Stock: Basic Black base 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 and scrap for owl punch
Whisper White layer 4 x 5-1/4 and scrap for stamp and owl punch
Melon Mambo scrap for owl punch

Pinwheels

I was going through my pictures and old posts and realized I never showed these pinwheels.  If you remember from here I made strawberry and blueberry flavored jello cookies using the newest sweet pressed cookie stamps to take to a 4th of July party.  I wanted to design cute labels so people knew what flavors they were.

In the June issue of Stampin' Success (which is a demonstrator only magazine, a GREAT perk for being a demonstrator) featured pinwheels so I took my inspiration from there.  The largest pinwheel was made with whisper white and the inside pinwheel used real red and pacific point.  They are perfect colors for 4th of July and red, white and blue colors.

To make these pinwheels, you first have to decide how big you want them to be.  Once you know your size, you cut that size square.  For example, I made my largest pinwheel 4 x 4.  Than using the Simply Scoring Tool you draw diagonal lines to each corner.  Now you'll use your scissors to cut into the center from each corner leaving about an inch from the center.  Next, using the paper piercing tool and mat, make a hole in the middle of your two diagonal lines and on the right side of your cut lines.  Each triangle should have 1 hole.  To assemble, use a brad and curl in the corners with the hole into the middle and attach all with brads.  You'll need to create something to cover your brad like I did with my labels.

To acheive my double pinwheel affect: Cut a smaller size square from DSP.  I made mine 3 x 3.  Glue onto whisper white before creating your pinwheel with the steps above and that's it!!

How cute are these and can be used for any occasion or reason!

Christmas Tree

I'm sure you're thinking it's weird to see Christmas cards already but I had to try out some of the new product I ordered from the 2012 Holiday catalog.  I wish I could remember where I saw this layout, but I just can't.  That's why I like to write posts after making the card cause I can give credit where credit is due.  Sorry if that person is you.
I love how the tree is actually cut out of the whisper white to show the designer series paper underneath.  This was easy to do using the new Holiday Collections Framelit Dies.  They go along with the Scentsational Season stamp set that you can order as a bundle and save 15%!

Scallop Circle Dress

I have been absolutely dying to make this dress ever since I first saw it.  I just never had a good reason to make it.  My sister-in-law is getting married and was having a bridal shower which gave me the perfect reason to try it out!!!

Here's what you need to do to make this dress.  Run your paper through the Big Shot using the Scallop Circle Bigz Die.  You'll have a circle like this

I thought the dress looked the best with 4 scallops on top and 10 at bottom.  I used ribbon as a guide to make the circles more uniform.  You can adjust the dress how you like with the number of scallops on top and bottom.  I used the paper snips to cut out the dress.

Once you have your dress cut out, just embellish how you want.  I made 2 dresses, one with the flower DSP from Comfort Cafe and Early Espresso card stock.  I put the early espresso behind the dress as an added dimension to the dress.  I just love everything about this card and hope to make more in the future!

Supplies needed to make this card:

Card Stock: Pool Party base 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper 5 x 5 for scallop circle die

MIA

I wanted to let you know that I've been missing in action this week because my mom had right knee replacement surgery on Monday.  She watches our boys while I go to work and my husband is in school.  Since this past week was my husband's last week of summer class, I was home with the boys.  I update my blog while I'm at work since there is VERY little time for anything with 2 boys ages 2-1/2 and 17 months.  I'm going to try to update with my recent projects today and hopefully this week since I'll be at work more.

My mom had a successful surgery and is in recovery mode at home.  My oldest son helped me make a get well soon card for my mother that I will post later.  So check back this week for projects I've been working on that I haven't been able to post.

Thanks!

August Q & A

31% off digital for 31 days!
Q: For what kinds of projects can I use My Digital Studio 2?

31% off digital for 31 days!

A: Well, I could say that the possibilities are limited only by your imagination! Or give you the predictable answer and say scrapbook pages, photobooks, calendars, and more. But, since we are celebrating the release of My Digital Studio 2 with 31% off 31 digital content options and most print products for all 31 days of August, I’ll just go with the flow and give you 31 inspirations!

1. Create a scrapbook or photobook to honor a friend using the It's All Me Kit (#128999).

2. Host an end of summer party for your friends and neighbors. Create invitations and table décor using the Boardwalk stamp brush set (#129598).

3. Make a year in review scrapbook as Christmas gifts for grandparents this year. Using the Year in Review Photo book Template (#125743) will make creating this special gift a snap!

4. Hold the most adorable baby shower without breaking a sweat using the Hello, Baby Ensemble Kit (#126159).

5. Make Christmas cards that are as unique as you and your family using the Bright Year Greeting Card Template (#131011).

6. Highlight your family in a one-of-a-kind family tree. Use the Bold Branches Stamp Brush Set (#124212) as the beginning, add photos of your family members and print as a 12” scrapbook page. Frame the printed page and show your family pride!

7. Give the best gift ever ... the gift of caring and time. How? Make a set of all-occasion cards using the Celebrate Any Day Greeting Card Templates (#127757) to make a great set of customizable cards. Print several copies of each and create bundles of assorted cards by simply tying a ribbon around them. Then give them as gifts for birthdays, Christmas, teacher appreciation, showers, graduations, and hostess gifts. When your friends use the cards, they save time and share caring thoughts.

8. Doll up your office with elements from the Messenger II Embellishments Digital Download (#124578). Too much time is spent at work for you to spend it in boring surroundings!

9. Make a swatchbook as a coach's gift. Get a photo of each child on the sports team, team photo, shots of tournaments, views into the dugout or sideline, and other team events. Add the photos to a simple swatchbook using the team colors and the Athletic Department brush set (#121065). Once printed, have each kid sign the page with their photo and give as a gift to the coach. Or make one for each team member and have the team autograph each other's books.

10. It doesn’t matter if your babies are 2 or 20, you’ll still love having a special photo collage of their baby photos and stats. Use the precious Baby Prints brush set (#130162) to highlight those special memories!

11. Love to camp? Show off your outdoor fun with a photo collage scrapbook featuring the fun images in the Happy Camper Memories (#130069) and Happy Camper (#126033) brush sets.

12. Love to travel? Make a special travel journal to help record your special trips using the Adventure Awaits stamp brush set (#129871).

13. Use the Bulletin Alphabet & Numbers stamp brush set to make an A-Z swatchbook. Use one page per letter listing your favorite thing, food, place, person, etc. for each letter.
Rivet Swatchbooks

14. Start 2013 off right with a custom calendar using the 2013 Month By Month Calendar Template (#130874). This also makes a great gift!

15. Bring a little romance into your everyday when you print, frame, and display the In Love Designer Template Page (#127343).

16. Planning a big event or wedding? Use the classically styled Meant To Be Designer Invitation Templates (#129354) for creating invitations, RSVP cards, Save the Dates, and more!

17. Are your travel photos collecting digital dust on your hard drive? Just use the World Traveler Photobook Template to drag and drop your photos, add your captions, and you’ll enjoy your travels all over again in your photobooks!

18. Do you road trip? Capture the moments in a 12” x 12” photobook using the stylish Travel Log Kit (#126022).

19. Need to tame some pirates? Use the Ahoy, Matey Ensemble (#130078) to create a bounty of pirate party fun!

20. Go digital for your diva! Create a princess party of royal design with the A Royal Day Ensemble (#130079). Crowns, treat boxes, banners, cupcake toppers, thank you notes, and more – all fit for a princess!

21. Download, print, and frame our Can'ts Into Cans Framable Designer Template (#130077). A fun décor piece with an inspirational quotation. Easily customizable to change the colors to suit your style and space … or a friend's favorites.

22. Have holidays that are organized with the 12 Days of Christmas Swatchbook (#130985). Record 12 family traditions in each of the premade templates and use it as a checklist. Makes a great gift for your children to share the family traditions with their own families.

23. Make a personalized journal as teacher’s gifts this year using the A is for Apple Stamp Brush Set (#127411).

24. Remember those school pictures growing up? How fun it was to reminisce and see the changes from year to year? Make a childhood 8” x 8” album for your children. It’s easier than you think when you use the A is for Apple Stamp Brush Set which has a 5” x 5” designer template. Create one template for each year with the individual picture on the left page and the class picture on the right page and duplicate for each year.

25. We could all use a little organization and daily dose of inspiration, right? Use the 2012 Daily Planner Photobook template and print a softcopy photobook to use for all your appointments and reminders. Go ahead and add your favorite inspirational quotes that you want to remember at the top of each month.

26. As a special gift, create and print Baby Announcements for a friend who just had a baby. They will be so grateful for the thoughtful gift. See our Announcing Baby Postcards Templates (#129593 boy) and (#129592 girl).

27. Know someone who could use a little encouragement? Maybe yourself? Create a desktop easel gift with our Be Awesome Today Easel Calendar Template (#131008).
