Dance Teacher Gift Card Holder

My son has been doing an all boys dance class since November.  They do tap, jazz and tumbling.  He really has enjoyed it and his teacher is wonderful with 8 boys ages 3-6!  His recital was Saturday so I wanted to make her something she could use in the future and what dance teacher doesn't need music so this holds an iTunes gift card.  The best thing is it's made with an envelope, how clever.  Wish I could say this was an original idea but found a video on Pinterest here.

Butterfly Thank You Card and Video

I love butterflies and try to use them as much as I can in my projects.  This was a fun card to create and I got to demonstrate how the Stamp-a-ma-jig works.  I'm usually a stamp and go type of person but really can't with this card.

The other thing about this card is I started doing Facebook parties in my business.  If you can't have a party in your home, you can still have one but everyone just logs in to Facebook at a certain time and we party together live through a Facebook event.  It's a lot of fun and I share exclusive products and videos and the hostess gets all the rewards of having a typical in home workshop!  I shared this video to demonstrate how to make this card.  Not the best quality and some background noise but enjoy my very first ever project video!

Spider-Man Thank You Cards

This is my final post about my son's Spider-Man third birthday party.  If you haven't read about the party do so here.

These were the thank you cards we mailed out after the party.  I was inspired by Gail Murray's spider owl that I found on Pinterest and knew I had to create one for these thank you cards.

Supplies Needed:

Card Stock: Real Read (5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scrap for punching) Basic Black (5-1/4" x 4" and scrap for punching) Pacific Point (scrap for punching) Whisper White (scrap for punching)

Ink: Whisper White craft ink
        Real Red
        Basic Black marker

Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Accessories: Big Shot
                     Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
                     Owl Punch
                     Modern Label Punch
                     Word Window Punch
                     Whisper White Bakers Twine
                     Paper Snips
                     Stampin' Dimensionals
                     Glue Dots

Directions: Run Basic Black through the Big Shot with the Spider Web folder.  Run the Whisper White craft ink over the raised side of the web.  (Be sure your surface is covered before doing this step.)  Set aside to dry or use the heat tool to set the ink.

Assemble the Spider Owl like picture below:

 

Adhesive Basic Black to the Real Red card.  Use Stampin' Dimensionals to glue the Spider Owl to the web.  Stamp "thank you" with real red onto Whisper White and punch using the Word Window punch.  Using the Modern Label Punch, punch Pacific Point and assemble with word window sentiment.

Cut the whisper white Bakers Twine to the size you need then fray the edges so they look like webbing.  Use a glue dot to adhere the twine to the back of the label.  Use a Dimensional to adhere the label.

I was so happy how these came out.  I am in the process of planning my other son's 2nd birthday which is most likely going to be around Disney's Little Einstein.  There are not a lot of stuff out there for that show so stay tuned to see what I come up with!



Spider-Man 3rd Birthday Party

I can't believe that we celebrated my sons 3rd birthday on Dec 2, 2012! He is getting so big and turning in to such a neat little boy. He has become obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED with Spider-Man. We really don't even know how it happened. Before we let him watch any Spider-Man cartoons, he was asking for toys and clothes that were Spider-Man themed. Eventually I found the Ultimate Spider-Man on Disney XD that he started to watch. He could watch that all day long if I let him.

So needless to say, our theme for his birthday was going to be Spider-Man! I did a bunch of online searching for Spider-Man themed birthdays and found some cute ideas. I didn't get pictures of everything I did but I'm hoping between the guests I can track down all of the pictures. This post will just be about the party and later posts will be how I created the crafts I made.

The first thing I did was send out these Spider-Man invitations.  Read how to make these cards here.

The next thing I created was a banner to hang. Unfortunately since we call him D.J. it didn't come out too big. My husband made fun of it cause it was so short :( I still think it's adorable. I was inspired by Mary Ross's spider man banner.  Read how I made this banner by clicking here

I found some great ideas on Pinterest.  One of them was comic book letters by The Party Wall.  Click on the link to see a tutorial how to make these letters like I did for DJ.

We had Spider-Man balloons and created a web  using black streamers on our fan to the edge of our dining room.  I am most upset that I didn't get a picture of this to share.

Our food items were red, black and blue themed or I created names to match our food like Super Spidey Sandwiches, Green Goblin Guacamole, etc.

Pinterest also inspired me to try my hand at Spider-man cake pops.  I have never done them myself but after reading and watching videos on how to make them, I didn't think they would be that hard.  Boy was I wrong!  People make things look so easy sometimes.  I had a hard time dipping the cake pops into the chocolate without having the pop fall off the stick and into the chocolate.  I think I made mine too big which caused them to be too heavy.  So I compromised and poured the chocolate over the top instead of dipping and had them be hand held cake pops.  The best part is they tasted good and that's all that mattered.  Here's what two of my cake pops with sticks looked like.

My niece asked to help draw on the spider webs so I let her!

I really had such a blast planning and creating this party.  I am going to try to start doing this more with my Stampin' Up! business.  Who wouldn't want a personalized birthday party like this one?!  Next up is my other sons 2nd birthday which will be car and truck themed!

Small Thank You

I was trying to think of a small thank you gift that was easy to make and hold a Hershey Nugget.  I had a bag of those laying around and found this cute tutorial HERE.  Love this simple and adorable holder.

This is such an adorable holder that can be changed to fit any occasion.  And who doesn't love receiving chocolate as a small gift?!!





Mini Thank You Cards

A few months ago, my sister hosted a Stampin' Up! party.  I wanted to give the guests who placed an order that night a little thank you card.  I left it blank inside so they could use it again and had my sister place inside their bags with the rest of the order.

I was going through my pictures and realized that I hadn't written about these.  These are simple 3x3 note cards that I just had to share.  This was my first time making these small cards and have to say they are so cute and easy to make that I'm looking forward to making more.

I am sad that this stamp Triple Treat Flower is retiring since I had just gotten it free during Sale-a-bration.  I should have realized it was too good to be true ;)

My last post mentioned how I earned Stampin' Start all because of my wonderful customers.  I sent this card to thank them for helping me start my business with a bang!

It was blank inside so they could send it to one of their family or friends.  The "thanks" stamp is from a set that will be retiring at the end of the month.

Mickey Mouse Thank You Cards

I finally got my son's thank you cards done for his second birthday.  (They are only a month late, bad?)  I made 7 of the following thank you cards.  (I can only imagine when I have to make double/triple/quadruple that amount how behind I will be :/)

I think this card came out really cute.  Another simple one to put together once I figured out what I wanted it to look like.  Here's what I used to make these cards:

A very simple card with little supplies needed.  I think the recipients will be very happy to receive this thank you card.  The inside is plan where I will have my son "sign" (or draw circles because that's how he colors right now!) and I will write thank you for the ____ gift, love D.J.

Thank You Card

 This was a card I did at a previous workshop.  Something simple but it was a WOW card!  We used Cherry Cobbler and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers to color the stamp in the Just Believe set.  I love doing this technique because you can personal the stamp how you want it to look.  I stamped the happy birthday from the same set using Cherry Cobbler ink pad.  We also used Versamark to stamp the circle image from the Just Believe set onto the Early Expresso cardstock.  We tied a piece of Very Vanilla 1/4'' Grosgrain Ribbon around the White and Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  This was a simple but great card to demonstrate at my workshop to show the ladies how versatile and easy our supplies are to make a card.  I also wanted to demonstrate a card that they could use for any occasion.  All they would have to is change the saying.

I wanted to make a thank you card for the secretary at my new job for all of the help she gave me when I first started.  She was such a sweetheart introducing me to everyone and truly making me feel welcome to the building.  I decided to take that workshop card and add to it.  I used the same techniques from the above card.  I than punched the Whisper White cardstock using the Eyelet Border punch and layered it over the Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  I die cut Rose Red cardstock using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Dies and the Sizzix Big Shot.  I adhered the butterflies onto the card using Stampin' Dimensionals to add depth to the card.  I stamped thank you from the Just Believe stamp set using the Cherry Cobbler ink pad.  Here's the outcome.

I also stamped the envelope with the circle stamp from the Just Believe set with Cherry Cobbler ink.  Added a little extra touch to the card that I loved.  Here's a picture of the envelope with the card.

This would be a great card to demonstrate in a workshop or class to show simple to a more complicated card.  I would also add heat embossing with the versamark circles as well as adding depth with the flowers by cutting out a second set to adhere on top of the flowers.  I'm hoping to do this in my beginners and intermediate classes starting next year!
