Questions? I've Got Answers
Q: Why are we offering Paper Pumpkin?
A: Paper Pumpkin is the perfect introduction to Stampin' Up! We designed it for crafters that want to create a project each month, but don't have the time or aren't quite ready to build a stamp collection (yet).

Q: How does shipping work with Paper Pumpkin?
A: Your Paper Pumpkin will be automatically shipped to you each month (so fun!). Because they will be auto shipped, the pricing structure is slightly different from our other Stampin' Up! products.

Q: What comes in my Paper Pumpkin?
A: It's a surprise each month—anticipation for the surprise is seriously half the fun! No worries, though, you'll have everything you need to complete the project: paper, stamps, ink, accessories, and more! (You will need adhesive though.)

Q: Does my Paper Pumpkin project come with instructions?
A: Yes, of course it does. The instructions will tell you everything you need to know. And they are so easy to follow—I promise.

Q: How long will it take to make each Paper Pumpkin project? (Now say that fast three times.)
A: We know you wish you had unlimited creativity time (we all do), but since you probably don’t, each Paper Pumpkin can be completed in 30 minutes or less! (We think of it as a spa treatment for your creativity.)

Q: Should I get on the Paper Pumpkin carriage?
A: Definitely, yes. Just think of it—a Stampin’ Up! surprise delivered to your doorstep every month (wahooo!) Paper Pumpkin offers a simple, creative experience each month. What's more—sometimes, your monthly kit features . . . wait for it . . . some exclusive products you can only get through Paper Pumpkin. Try it and see what you think. You can cancel your membership any time.

Q: How much does a Paper Pumpkin membership cost each month?
A: Paper Pumpkin is $19.95 per month. Because your Paper Pumpkin ships automatically to you, the shipping of $5.00 has been built in to the cost of each kit.

Q: When does my membership expire?
A: Your membership will last until you cancel it.

Q: When do I need to sign up in order to get my Paper Pumpkin?
A: You need to sign up by the 10th of the month in order to receive your Paper Pumpkin for that month. If you sign up after the 10th―no worries! You will get your first kit the following month. You'll know your Paper Pumpkin is on its way when you receive your shipment confirmation e-mail.

Q: Can I skip a month?
A: You sure can! Simply log on to your account on www.mypaperpumpkin.com and click skip a month before the 10th of the month in order to skip the Paper Pumpkin for that month. If you click skip a month on the 11th of the month, you will receive that month's Paper Pumpkin and not receive the following month's Paper Pumpkin.

Q: What if I want to cancel my membership?
A: You must submit a 10-page essay about why you would ever want to do such a crazy thing. (Just kidding.) It’s simple. All you need to do is log on to your Paper Pumpkin account on www.mypaperpumpkin.com and choose cancel before the 10th of the month and you will not receive any more Paper Pumpkin kits (how sad). If you cancel on the 11th of the month, you'll receive that month's Paper Pumpkin and will not receive any more Paper Pumpkin kits.

Q: What is the return policy?
A: If you are not thrilled with your Paper Pumpkin, please call Stampin' Up! at 1-800-STAMP UP, to chat and make make everything hunky dory.

Q: Will the items in each Paper Pumpkin be available for sale individually?
A: Part of the fun of having a Paper Pumpkin membership is receiving exclusive products to play with! Most of the items in your Paper Pumpkin are exclusive, never-before seen products (can you say yippee?) You will, however, see a few tried-and-true products in your Paper Pumpkin that you can buy individually in the catalog.

Q: Is there any other way to buy monthly Paper Pumpkin kits?
A: You need to be a member to receive the monthly Paper Pumpkin. Past kits will not be available at this time.

Q: How do I see the upcoming Paper Pumpkin kits?
A: One of the best parts of your Paper Pumpkin membership is that you never know what is going to be in that beautiful red box. It’s like opening a present every month—we don’t want to ruin the surprise for you!

Q: What if the package never comes?
A: If your Paper Pumpkin does not arrive on your doorstep please call Stampin' Up! at 1-800-STAMP UP, and one of the friendly customer service agents will help you.

Q: When will I be charged?
A: Your credit card will be charged as soon as your Paper Pumpkin ships.

Doesn't this sound like something you want to take advantage of?  I signed up for my kit and will be anxiously awaking my welcome kit in the middle of March.  I hope you join me on this new journey and enjoy creating something new each month!  If you are ready to join you can do so by going to www.mypaperpumpkin.com and click Subscribe.  Please include my name, Brittny Smith, as your demonstrator when prompted.

Stampin' Up! Leadership 2013 Recap

This was my first Leadership and it just happened to be in Orlando, FL.  What a great break from our cold, snowy weather in Pittsburgh.  If you want to read about my family vacation we made of it then click here.

Leadership started Thursday afternoon.  Once I got my badge and packet, which included a free stamp set and a coupon to order a free stamp set, I walked around the hall to see all of the samples and information there was.  I then went to a first timers meet and greet where we played a Bingo game and won a container of embellishments.  The first day was sort of just a check-in day so I took lots of pictures of the different samples on display.

Checking out the samples
Friday started with a general session where Shelli, the owner and CEO, started it off by speaking about 25 years of business.  Her daughter, Sara Douglass, came on to stage next for a stamping demonstration and to show the new man's kit called Dude, You're Welcome.  Then another home office worker, Bonnie Thurber, unveiled another new product line called Paper Pumpkin.  This is one of the most things that I'm excited about and hoping it helps get some new customers.  It ended with all of us getting the Try it Kit and Welcome Kit for the Paper Pumpkin.

We broke in to classes and the one I took was about Social media.  It gave me some good tips for blogging, Facebook and YouTube.  I'm hoping it inspires me to start making videos.  After lunch there were mini 20 minute classes about all different topics.  I learned so much and have some great ideas to help grow my business.

We ended Friday with a pajama party general session with stamping demonstrations from more home office employees.  We learned the locations for this years upcoming Regional events.  I'm already planning to get to the Baltimore regional on April 13th.  Finally, we all received DSP and a stamp free!  It was a successful but long first day.

Another one of my favorite samples

Saturday started with another general session.  We celebrated by having demonstrators walk on stage for their latest promotion of that year.  I got to walk with other demonstrators that promoted to Supervisor this year.  It was so cool and I hope to be able to do that again and again and again!  Shelli Gardner came out to demonstrate more products from the Spring catalog.  Finally, Scott Nielsen revealed Best of 25 years Stamp Set promotion and gave us all silver glimmer paper and some embellishments.

I attended a class about meeting new people to grow my business.  After lunch I attended a class about helping my downline through their first year and am most excited about implementing these ideas.  Leadership ended with a final general session with more demonstrations and inspirations.  Check out what we did after one of the talks.

The day ended with Shelli coming out one final time to wrap it up and give away one final stamp set to all attendees.  It was such an amazing experience that I will never forget.  I am so glad that I was able to go and hope to go back to many more in the future.

Our Family Vacation in Orlando

This was my first Leadership and it just happened to be the first time in Orlando, FL too.  My husband and I took advantage and made it a week down there as a family.  We flew in Sunday, January 6th and had 3 days to run to different parks together.  Monday we went to Legoland and the boys had a blast.

Here they are with Batman and Robin

Tuesday we went to Disney Hollywood Studios and got to meet Jake from "Jake and the Neverland Pirates."  That is one of their favorite shows on Disney Junior.  They were Jake and Cubby for Halloween this past year too.

Wednesday we went to Magic Kingdom and got to meet even more characters and ride a few of the rides that they were big enough to ride.  I loved seeing their faces when they meet the characters.  Here they are chasing and popping bubbles at the Magic Kingdom.

Thursday night we went back to the Magic Kingdom to see the park at night and to watch the fireworks.  The boys really did love our time at the parks and it was a great week with beautiful weather.  I  attended Stampin' Up! Leadership Thursday through Saturday that you can read about tomorrow.  We flew back to Pittsburgh Sunday morning.  It was a week that we will never forget and I'm glad we took advantage of our opportunity!

Learn About the Chalkboard Technique with Stampin' Up!

Chalkboard Technique
 Q&A

Q:  I love seeing new techniques used for stamping. Can you tell me more about the Chalkboard technique?

Chalkboard Technique - To You From Me Designer Template - Digital Download #132811
A:
You hit right on a very popular trend in the papercrafting world! The Chalkboard or Faux Chalk Art technique is a fun twist on the basic resist technique. It creates the vintage look of old chalkboards, chalkboard art, and advertising.  Here’s how you can create the Chalkboard Technique...

Supplies:
Card Stock:  Basic Black (or use Garden Green or Not Quite Navy for the look of old green and blue chalkboards)
Ink:  VersaMark, Whisper White Craft ink, ink matching the color of your card stock
Other:  Heat Tool, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Embossing Buddy, Watercolor Pencils (White Pencil), Stamping Sponges, ruler (clear is best)

Step 1:  Rub card stock with Embossing Buddy. Stamp images with VersaMark ink. Heat emboss with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. (Try stamps such as: Amazing Family (#129189 wood, #129192 clear) pg. 7 of Spring Catalog or Forever with You (#126725 wood, #126727 clear) pg. 132 of Annual Catalog.)

Step 2:  Sponge edges of card stock with matching color to create contrast. Wipe off excess ink with tissue.  Lightly sponge around embossed images and in blank areas with Whisper White Craft ink. Sponge some areas darker and some lighter to create the look of chalk dust.

Step 3:
Use a ruler or freehand draw lines through or above and below stamped images with the White Watercolor Pencil. Draw a border 1/4" from each edge of the card stock with the White Watercolor Pencil to create a frame around the chalkboard. Remember this is all “chalk” drawing on a board so being perfectly neat isn’t necessary!

OPTIONAL:
If desired go back and shadow stamp over embossed images with Whisper White Craft ink. By stamping over, but slightly off center of the original image you create a blurred shadow effect. Allow craft ink to dry.

Step 4:  Embellish with vintage items such as bits of Doily, ribbon, Delicate Details Lace Tape (#130966), Paper Doilies (#129399), Linen Thread (#104199), Baker’s Twine, buttons, or pieces from the Artisan Embellishments Kit (#129328).

Leadership 2013

I have been in Orlando, FL since Sunday on a mini vacation with my family until today. Today started Stampin' Up's leadership event. This is my first time attending and its in sunny Florida!!

Just want to write a quick recap of my favorites from today. Received a free stamp set in my welcome kit along with a chance to order a free stamp set with my next demonstrator order. There was lots of nice displays with new product and product shares. I enjoyed new product being demonstrated as well and have lots of ideas for upcoming events. My last favorite is receiving more free product when I attended the first timers meeting. So far it has been a great first day and look forward to tomorrow.

I am off to Magic Kingdom with the family tonight  but want to leave you with some pictures from today.
